Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has warned of difficult days ahead for President William Ruto over the 2024 Gen-Z anti-Finance Bill demonstrations.
Kabando has predicted that the President could eventually face legal consequences for the lives lost during the protests, saying the state must account for deaths attributed to police actions.
He has drawn parallels with Bangladesh, where former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was recently sentenced to death for her government’s response to last year’s student-led demonstrations.
Kabando suggests that a similar outcome could await Ruto if justice is pursued to its conclusion.
“For violent suppression of 2024 student-led protests, former Bangladesh PM will pay the price. The mill of God grinds slowly, but it grinds finely. Dear Kenya Gen-Zs, one day, justice shall be served against your killers and tormentors. Ruto must go,” he wrote on X.
Hasina was convicted by the International Crimes Tribunal for “crimes against humanity,” linked to allegations that her government killed 1,400 protesters before she was ousted.
