Bad News for Sifuna as His 2027 Presidential Ambitions Hit a Setback After Wetang’ula Declares This

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has challenged Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over his decision to pursue the presidency, arguing that political ambition alone is not enough to convince Kenyans that one is ready to lead the country.

Speaking amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, Wetang’ula questioned whether Sifuna has accumulated enough political experience and demonstrated a track record that would persuade voters to entrust him with the presidency.

Wetang’ula argued that Kenya’s previous presidents did not rise to State House overnight. According to him, they went through lengthy political journeys that exposed them to different leadership responsibilities and gave them experience in managing public affairs.

His remarks come as Sifuna continues to attract attention with his increasingly open presidential ambitions. The Nairobi senator has positioned himself as part of the emerging opposition conversation and has repeatedly criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration over issues affecting ordinary Kenyans.
