A woman from Kitale is seeking justice after she returned home from Saudi Arabia only to find that the man she had supported for years had married another woman and taken control of property they built together.
Rebecca Khaemba said she left Kenya to work in Saudi Arabia so she could improve her life and support her child.
She also hoped to raise money to continue her education.
While working abroad for many years, she sent money home and trusted her partner to manage their plans.
She said they agreed to build a house together as they prepared for marriage.
Over time, Rebecca sent about KSh 1 million, which was used to help build a house that was later completed and had rental shops that generated income.
She said they had lived together from 2016 to 2024, but he never wanted to have a child with her, as he claimed it would interfere with his plans.
She added that his friends used to call her asking to be connected with other workers, which became a side hustle for her.
She explained that this arrangement allowed her to avoid paying rent and that the house also had rental shops which they leased out.
Her life later changed after she lost her job and returned to Kenya in 2024.
She said her mother died five days after she arrived home, which was a big blow to her. She later fell sick and underwent surgery.
During this time, she discovered that her partner had made another woman pregnant and later married her.
When she asked for her share of the investment, he refused.
Rebecca now wants her money back so she can rebuild her life.
She is advising women working abroad to invest in their own names and always protect their money.
