ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi has dismissed speculation that the party is rushing to form coalition agreements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking recently, Osotsi said coalition-building is not a priority at the moment, noting that the elections are still about one and a half years away.
He explained that ODM, under the leadership of Dr. Oburu Odinga, is currently focused on internal party strengthening rather than early political alliances.
Osotsi said the party believes meaningful coalitions should be built on a strong foundation, not hurried arrangements driven by pressure or speculation.
According to him, ODM is concentrating on grassroots mobilisation, policy development, and sustained engagement with voters across the country.
He warned that premature coalition talks could distract the party from its core objectives and weaken long-term planning.
The ODM deputy leader added that Oburu Odinga’s leadership is prioritising party unity and addressing key national issues as part of preparations for the next election cycle.
While acknowledging that coalitions are a major feature of Kenyan politics, Osotsi said ODM prefers a measured and deliberate approach.
He noted that discussions on alliances will come at the right time, once the party has fully consolidated its base and clarified its agenda.
As political realignments continue to take shape ahead of 2027, ODM’s position signals a strategy centred on preparation, timing, and internal stability rather than early deal-making.
