Storm In Paradise As ODM MP Exposes UDA's Secret Plot Against ODM In Western After Secret Meeting

 

As the country gears up in readiness for serious political mobilisation ahead of 2027 Presidential elections, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have found themselves at loggerheads in Western Kenya.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has accused the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of orchestrating a secret tostile takeover of ODM’s grassroots structures in parts of Western Kenya. 

Speaking on Thursday, January 8, 2026, ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi claimed that several ODM lawmakers and some party officials from Vihiga and Kakamega counties, participated in UDA electoral and campaign strategy meetings held on January 6, 2026, at a hotel in Kakamega town.

“Over the past few days, a section of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislators and officials in Vihiga and Kakamega Counties have been incorporated into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) electoral and campaign strategy meetings."

“One such engagement took place on Tuesday, 6th January 2026, at Golf Hotel in Kakamega, where several legislators elected on ODM participated in a meeting convened by top UDA officials. Our members are being approached to facilitate and participate in the upcoming UDA grassroots elections under the false pretext that UDA and ODM are in a political cooperation agreement." read the ODM statement in part.

He argued that some ODM members are being approached to take part in upcoming UDA grassroots elections.

Mr. Osotsi cautioned that UDA is using the situation as a pretext to claim there is a political cooperation agreement between ODM and UDA. 

He added that UDA has even gone to the extent of creating a regional presidential caucus made up of ODM members, moves he said breach the ODM constitution.

He therefore called on ODM members to reject involvement in what he termed unlawful activities, stressing that ODM is an independent political party and not a subsidiary of UDA.
