Raila Had Secret Plan To Make Ruto One Term President - Ex Azimio Chief Agent

Saitabao Ole Kanchory, the former chief agent of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has revealed that the late former Prime Minister had a secret strategy aimed at limiting President William Ruto to a single term in office.

Kanchory spoke in an interview with Spice FM on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, shedding new light on the much-discussed 10-point agenda between Raila and the Kenya Kwanza government.

According to Kanchory, the 10-point plan was never intended as a joint government initiative.

“The agenda was not a program for ODM and UDA to implement together. It consisted of demands that the Kenya Kwanza administration was expected to fulfill,” he explained.

Kanchory dismissed claims that Raila had personally joined the government. Instead, he clarified that only technical experts from ODM were sent to support certain programs, while party leaders like John Mbadi, Yusuf Haji Wandayi, Joho, and Oparanya remained in ODM.

“Raila never asked his supporters to back Ruto or join the government,” he emphasized.

The former chief agent also revealed that the 10-point plan was deliberately set to conclude in 2026, just one year before the 2027 general elections.

“Raila knew that these tasks would take more than a year to complete. By setting a timeline, he gave Ruto until March 2026 to implement the agenda,” Kanchory said.

With less than four months remaining, Kanchory claimed that none of the proposed points had been fully accomplished.

He argued that this was part of a calculated strategy to expose Ruto’s administration’s inability to meet all the objectives within the set timeframe.

During the interview, Kanchory quoted Raila’s last words: “Who told you that ODM will not have a candidate?”

He warned that if the party supported Ruto instead of fielding its own presidential candidate, ODM’s national influence would weaken.

“Backing Ruto would spell the end of ODM. Fielding a candidate ensures the party remains strong and competitive across the country,” he stated.

Kanchory also defended ODM’s broad national reach, asserting that the party remains a movement with strong support across Kenya, despite internal and external political challenges.

“ODM is more than a party; it is a national force with a presence in every county,” he noted.
