"I Was Asked For Ksh 300,000 And I Declined" Mutula Kilonzo Junior Claims After Missing On This Poll

Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has raised serious concerns about the credibility of governor performance rankings released in the country.

He claims he was approached and asked to pay money in exchange for being ranked as the best performing governor in Kenya.

According to the governor, the amount demanded was Ksh300,000. He says the request was presented as a way to secure the top position in a widely circulated performance index.

Mutula says he declined to make the payment because he believes public leadership should be evaluated on real work and service delivery, not money.

The governor has further stated that he has evidence to support his claims. He says he is in possession of messages that show how the request was made.

This has added weight to the allegations and raised questions about how such rankings are conducted and who controls them.

After he refused to pay, Mutula claims the ranking outcome changed. Instead of being placed first, another governor from the Ukambani region was reportedly ranked as the second best performing governor in the country.

This sudden shift has fueled suspicion about the integrity of the process and whether financial influence plays a role.

The claims have sparked debate among Kenyans, especially on social media. Many citizens rely on performance rankings to judge their leaders and to understand how counties are performing. Allegations of bribery threaten to erode public trust in these assessments.
