Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has launched a scathing attack on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi, accusing him of presiding over widespread human rights violations during his tenure in government.
Speaking after presiding over the 3rd graduation ceremony of the Darul Quran Islamic Centre in Narok Town, Narok County, Duale did not mince words in his critique of Matiangi, who recently appeared on television.
"Fred Matiangi is the face of impunity in Kenya. If there is anyone who practiced impunity in Kenya, it is Matiangi," Duale declared, making serious allegations against the former CS.
Duale accused Matiangi of being responsible for extrajudicial killings, claiming he oversaw the deaths of numerous Muslims and Kenyans.
In particularly grave allegations, the CS claimed that bodies of victims were disposed of in Tana River and Yala River.
"He was very proud about it," Duale added, suggesting Matiangi showed no remorse for the alleged actions during his time in office.
The Cabinet Secretary further accused Matiangi of nepotism and tribalism, painting a picture of an administration that favored certain groups over others.
Duale's remarks come amid ongoing debate about governance and accountability in Kenya.
"He should desist. He is the last person to criticize the Ruto government," Duale stated firmly, dismissing Matiangi's recent criticisms of the current administration.
The allegations represent some of the most serious accusations leveled against a former government official in recent times. Matiangi served as Interior CS under former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration and was widely regarded as one of the most powerful figures in that government.

At the time of publication, Matiangi had not responded to Duale's allegations.
The claims have sparked debate on social media, with Kenyans divided over the accusations and calling for evidence to support such serious charges.
Human rights organizations have previously raised concerns about extrajudicial killings in Kenya, particularly regarding security operations in certain regions.
