Nairobi – ODM youth activist Kasmuel McOure has launched a blistering attack on party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of duplicity for chanting opposition slogans and orchestrating the humiliation of party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga during ODM's anniversary celebrations.
"If our SG can proudly chant Wantam, the primary slogan of a political formation that stands in direct contradiction to our ideological persuasion and routinely belittles our people, then we are duty bound to call out his duplicity," Kasmuel stated.
The criticism targets Sifuna's apparent embrace of the "#Wantam" opposition rallying cry associated with Rigathi Gachagua's anti-Ruto movement, which Kasmuel argues contradicts ODM's position as part of the broad-based government.
The youth leader's most damaging accusation concerned ODM's twentieth anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, where he claims Sifuna engineered Oburu Oginga's humiliation.
"Where he should have upheld and elevated Dr. Oburu Oginga's dignity as our Party Leader, he instead chose to collaborate with individuals who humiliated him, attempting and failing to incite the crowd," Kasmuel alleged.
He accused Sifuna of "recklessness" that forced Oburu "to deliver an abridged version of a historic address he should have given in full," claiming the SG's "adventurousness and poor judgment placed our Party Leader on the defensive, undermining his stature and exposing our party to public ridicule."
"Sisi kama vijana tumekataa huo upuzi. Ukweli hatutaacha kusema" (We as youth have rejected this nonsense. We won't stop speaking the truth), Kasmuel concluded defiantly.
The attack on Sifuna reflects deepening divisions within ODM over the party's direction and leadership.
With several senior members in Ruto's Cabinet and questions about Raila Odinga's death affecting succession dynamics, factional battles are intensifying.
Kasmuel's public assault on the Secretary General—one of ODM's most visible leaders—demonstrates how internal disputes are no longer being managed privately but are spilling into open warfare that could fracture the party.
