William Kabogo Cracks Up Kenyans After Responding to Jokes About His Haircut and Viral Memes

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo once again amused Kenyans after openly addressing the endless jokes about his haircut and the memes that have made him a regular topic on social media.

Kabogo has trended several times in 2025, mostly because of his bold fashion choices and his signature hairstyle.

A viral photo of him dressed in a white shirt, khaki trousers, a red tie, and brown shoes sparked a flood of memes, especially after his trousers lifted while he sat on a low seat, exposing his socks.

His haircut — bald at the top with full sides — also became a talking point, with many comparing it to the late President Mwai Kibaki’s classic look.

Speaking during the opening of the 8th Annual Editors Guild Convention in Kilifi County, Kabogo said he has no problem with the jokes and prefers taking everything in good humour.

“Many things happen against me, but I take them positively. People complain about my haircut, but I tell them it is okay. Wivu ni sawa. My barber is God, but your barber must go to Githurai every week,” he said, leaving the audience in laughter.

Kabogo also clarified the story behind the viral fashion meme, noting that the low seat made his trousers appear shorter than usual.

He added that he later met the creator of the meme and helped him secure KSh 100,000, a gesture that impressed many Kenyans.

His comments sparked fresh conversations online as netizens revisited past memes and shared new jokes.

Many praised him for having a light-hearted approach and for embracing online criticism instead of reacting harshly.

Kabogo said the jokes do not distract him from his work and encouraged Kenyans to enjoy the humour as it comes.
