Uhuru Defends Gachagua As He Issues This Stern Warning To Jubilee Sec-Gen Jeremiah Kioni

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a stern warning to Jubilee Party members who have been engaging in public spats with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during a grassroots meeting in Murang’a, Kenyatta expressed his disapproval of the ongoing hostility among party officials, saying it was eroding the unity and reputation of the movement he once led.

Kenyatta reminded the party’s leadership that the essence of political competition lies in ideas and service to citizens, not in trading insults.

He urged the members to embrace civility, particularly in their online engagements, warning that those who persist in spreading hostility risk losing their positions within the party structure.

His message was direct discipline and respect must define the Jubilee fraternity as it rebuilds its base ahead of the next election cycle.

The former Head of State’s comments were perceived as a direct response to the growing tension between Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and Gachagua.

Kioni had recently accused the former Deputy President of trying to frustrate Jubilee’s presidential aspirant, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

He also suggested that Gachagua was collaborating with President William Ruto’s administration, claims that have generated heated debate within opposition circles.

Kenyatta, however, urged his team to focus on party revival rather than personal feuds. He called for renewed energy toward recruiting new members, promoting the party’s manifesto, and engaging citizens constructively.

According to him, internal strife only benefits rivals and weakens the party’s national influence.

During the meeting, Kenyatta reaffirmed his support for Fred Matiang’i’s leadership ambitions, commending his administrative record and commitment to national service.

He clarified that his endorsement was based on performance and experience rather than personal ties, describing Matiang’i as a capable leader ready to steer the country forward.
