Samia's Gov't Responds to CNN's Damning Exposé, Alleges What Happened Before it Was Released

The Tanzanian government has announced it's disappointment in the recent exposé by CNN, demonstrating how things went down in the country during the recent protests.

In the report, CNN states that security agencies, under the orders of President Samia Suluhu's officials, opened fire on unarmed protesters, who were calling for her exit from office.

The exposé further demonstrates how police officers reportedly prevented doctors from treating those injured in the demos, opting to take them directly to morgues.

Chief Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, has dismissed the report, terming it a one sided story which the government was not given the opportunity to respond to before being released.

"It is not fair and right for a media outlet to publish one-sided information and then give the reason that government officials were not found when they were sought, just as CNN published its news full of allegations without giving the government a chance to respond."

He has stated that the President is not happy with the fact that the report appears intended to prevent Tanzanians from healing from the painful scenes of October 29.

"Government leaders, including President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, are deeply saddened and hurt by those events and their consequences," Msigwa said on Sunday.

"Continuing to celebrate those events is of no benefit to our nation other than adding to the pain in the wounds of Tanzanians. I would like to explain the following."

CNN also reported finding suspected mass graves sites, thought to have been used to dispose bury some of those who were killed by the police during the protests.
