Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, has rained praises on his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, terming him a great leader.
He has lauded Ruto as a Pan-Africanist whose leadership skills are a benefit to not only Kenya but the entire East African region.
Museveni stated that Uganda is among the beneficiaries of Ruto's good job, after Devki Steel ventured into his country.
“President William Ruto is a good Pan-Africanist and also active in terms of implementation. We are very lucky to have President William Ruto in charge of Kenya; you can now see the fruits of now,” he is quoted by the People Daily.
He stated that it is through Ruto that Uganda managed to secure the investor, pointing out that he is the one who pushed the firm's boss to expand into Uganda.
"He is the one who has encouraged Guru of Devki Company, yes, Guru is a private sector, but Ruto encouraged him,” he added during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Devki Steel project in Tororo, Uganda, on Sunday.
Museveni stated that himself and Ruto are now working on rationalising transport between the two countries, including by ensuring that all fuel entering Uganda goes through the pipeline and not tankers anymore.
The remarks, however, come only days after his remarks about the Indian Ocean, which have been seen as heavily controversial.
The leader hinted at the possibility of Uganda getting involved in an active military conflict with Kenya in a bid to gain access to the Indian Ocean through Kenya.
