Mumo Nthiwa: Photo Of Self Proclaimed Preacher Caught Red-handed With Witchcraft Items

Police in Machakos have arrested a 55-year-old man who introduced himself as a preacher after he was found with suspicious items believed to be linked to cult practices.

The man, identified as Mumo Nthiwa, was put under investigation following the mysterious death of a woman in Kathiani.

Detectives later raided his room, where they discovered human hair, nails, pieces of skin, and photographs of residents.

The operation began when police caught a man named Eric Makau performing strange rituals near a water tank. When questioned, he revealed that the charms he used came from Mumo.

According to Machakos DCI boss Nzioka Singi, the discovery was connected to the murder of Esther Katongo.

“We were pursuing a poisoning case when Makau was found carrying a kilo of tobacco meant to be dropped into a water source. Upon further questioning, he mentioned Mumo’s name,” Singi said.

The confession prompted detectives to raid Mumo’s premises, where they uncovered items associated with cult activities.

During interrogation, Mumo admitted that he posed as a man of God but instead relied on fear to extort money from desperate people.

Mumo was presented before a Machakos court and charged with being in possession of charms intended to cause fear or harm, contrary to the Witchcraft Act.

The The police emphasized that many Kenyans are often lured by individuals who claim to possess extraordinary powers but only aim to take advantage of their beliefs.

Meanwhile, Makau, who was first arrested, was later released after he was found not guilty. The court also gave orders for all the seized items to be destroyed.

In a separate incident in Nairobi, a woman identified as Anastachiah Wanjiru Chege faced charges for allegedly defrauding a pastor of over KSh 750,000.

She convinced him that she could help clear his debts through supernatural powers.

Wanjiru denied the accusations in court and was freed on a cash bail of KSh 100,000.
