“He Got It Wrong in 2022” – Ngunjiri Blasts Gachagua, Says Mt Kenya Can’t Trust Him for 2027

Former Nyeri Town MP, Ngunjiri Wambugu, has cast doubt on Rigathi Gachagua’s ability to lead Mount Kenya in the 2027 elections.

On Monday, Wambugu used his verified social media account to question whether Gachagua can give proper political direction to the vote-rich region.

Wambugu reminded the public that Gachagua has admitted to making serious mistakes in 2022.

Back then, he influenced Mount Kenya residents to vote overwhelmingly for William Ruto as president.

His influence also extended to the election of Members of County Assembly, Members of Parliament, senators, and governors across the region.

“How can the same Gachagua, who admits he misled the people in 2022, now ask for another chance in 2027?” Wambugu asked.

He stressed that it is risky to let someone repeat past errors while promising to do better.

Since his impeachment in October last year, Gachagua has presented himself as a key voice for Mount Kenya.

He has used public events, media interviews, and his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) to push the region’s agenda.

Gachagua has also promised to field strong candidates to challenge leaders who supported President Ruto and those involved in his 2024 impeachment.

However, critics argue that his approach is divisive and branded him as tribalist in the process.

Wambugu urged Mount Kenya residents to think carefully before trusting Gachagua again. He said leadership requires a record of correct judgment, not just promises.

“We cannot gamble with the future of our region because someone wants to repeat mistakes,” he said.

Political analysts note that the 2027 elections will be a critical moment for Mount Kenya. They say voters will look closely at past performance before choosing leaders.
