"Mt Kenya & Bungoma Has Left Him" Politician On Why Ruto Has No Chance Of Winning 2027 Elections

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Nairobi Patron Irungu Nyakera has dismissed President William Ruto’s chances of securing a second term in 2027, arguing that the head of state has lost critical political ground since his 2022 victory.

In a detailed statement shared on his X account on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Nyakera said shifting alliances and dwindling regional support have narrowed Ruto’s electoral pathway to what he termed “a near impossibility.”

Nyakera noted that Ruto narrowly edged out Raila Odinga in 2022 by relying heavily on Mt Kenya and Rift Valley, alongside pockets of support in Bungoma and Marsabit.

He now claims these regions have significantly shifted, particularly the mountain region, which he says has slipped from the president’s grip due to dissatisfaction and new political alignments.

He further identified ODM-leaning counties—Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Nyamira, and Kisii—as areas where Ruto has allegedly lost influence.

According to him, the loss of these counties leaves the president with what he described as “a shrinking political map,” now concentrated mainly in the Rift Valley and a few scattered regions.

Nyakera’s remarks echo sentiments by former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, who on Saturday, November 29, 2025, also maintained that Ruto is destined to be a one-term president.

Speaking in Embu, Linturi argued that despite UDA’s victories in recent by-elections, the president’s political momentum has waned.

Linturi attributed the opposition’s defeat in Mbeere North to internal betrayal, claiming certain “traitors” within the coalition undermined their efforts.

However, he praised the united opposition for its performance, urging its supporters to remain focused and confident ahead of the 2027 contest.

The growing chorus of criticism from political figures signals intensifying debate over Ruto’s re-election prospects as shifting loyalties continue to shape Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
