Chaos Erupts As Crowd Turns Against Junet Mohamed After Mentioning Gachagua Ahead Of Bondo Visit

Tension gripped Migori County after Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed faced an irate crowd that turned hostile when he mentioned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s name during a local gathering.

What began as a lively and peaceful event soon degenerated into confusion and chaos, forcing the lawmaker to end his speech abruptly.

Junet, who had been addressing residents in preparation for a forthcoming visit to Bondo, spoke about the need for national unity and dialogue among leaders across Kenya’s political spectrum.

However, the mood changed sharply the moment he referred to former Deputy President Gachagua.

The mention appeared to anger sections of the audience, who responded with loud boos, jeers, and chants that completely drowned his voice.

Efforts by Junet and his aides to pacify the restless crowd failed, as emotions continued to rise and disapproval echoed throughout the venue.

The situation escalated rapidly, prompting security officers and event organizers to step in to restore order and prevent possible violence.

Eyewitnesses described the atmosphere as tense, saying some supporters pleaded for calm while others demanded that Junet apologize for what they called an “offensive mention” of Gachagua in an ODM stronghold.

Political observers have linked the incident to heightened emotions and growing political divisions ahead of the highly anticipated Bondo meeting.

The upcoming gathering is expected to attract key national leaders from various political factions, with many analysts viewing it as a defining moment that could influence future alliances and shape the region’s political direction.

In response to the backlash, Junet Mohamed defended his remarks, clarifying that his intention was to advocate for peace, reconciliation, and cooperation among leaders, not to provoke controversy or cause division.

He urged his supporters to remain calm and to prioritize national unity over political differences, emphasizing that sustainable development in Kenya can only be achieved through dialogue and collaboration across party lines.

The incident has since triggered widespread debate on social media. While some Kenyans condemned the crowd’s reaction as intolerant and disrespectful, others argued that Junet should have exercised better judgment given the political sensitivities in Nyanza.
