Wamuchomba Mocks Gachagua’s DCP, Says It Uses Insults to Silence Mt Kenya Leaders

Githunguri Member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba, has once again taken a strong swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, mocking his newly formed political outfit, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

Speaking during a weekend event, Wamuchomba ridiculed the DCP logo — a hand cupped around an ear — saying it symbolizes a party that “only listens to itself.”

She sarcastically branded it the “Maskio Party”, a Swahili phrase for “ear,” arguing that it perfectly describes leaders who pretend to listen but only hear their own voices.

According to the outspoken legislator, the DCP’s supporters have developed a habit of calling any leader who disagrees with them a “mole” or a “betrayer.”

Wamuchomba claimed this is not genuine concern for unity but a deliberate political tactic used to silence those with different opinions in the Mt Kenya region.

“They have formed an emotional battalion that insults and intimidates anyone who dares to think differently,” she said.

“When you question them, you suddenly become a ‘mole’ or a ‘betrayer’. That is how they control people through fear.”

The Githunguri MP added that she has been one of the main victims of this name-calling, insisting that her only “crime” is speaking the truth.

She described herself as a truth-teller being punished for her honesty and refusal to join what she calls a “toxic political movement.”

Wamuchomba went further to link the growing divisions in Mt Kenya politics to leadership mistakes made after the exit of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She reminded voters of Uhuru’s warning that the region would one day regret abandoning his leadership, saying that time has already come.

“The insults and divisions you see today are proof that we were warned. Instead of solving problems, they use emotional politics to blind the people,” she stated.
