Gaucho’s remarks have drawn attention as the nation continues to mourn the veteran opposition leader and reflect on his political legacy.
Speaking during an interview, Gaucho said that Raila gave him strong advice just days before his death.
According to Gaucho, Raila cautioned him against commenting on the popular “Tutam” slogan, which is currently being used by some leaders to promote the idea of supporting the sitting government for a second term.
“Alisema tufanye kazi na tuone maendeleo kwanza. Hizo si mambo ya haraka.”
Gaucho explained that Raila wanted his loyal supporters to focus on unity and development rather than early political campaigns.
The youth leader noted that Raila believed Kenya needed peace and progress after years of political divisions.
“Baba alisema wananchi wamechoka na vita vya siasa. Alitaka tuwe watu wa maendeleo, si maneno ya kurusha vijembe kila siku,” Gaucho added emotionally.
The revelation comes at a time when the ODM party is facing internal uncertainty about its next steps without Raila’s leadership.
Some party members have shown willingness to work closely with the government, while others insist that the opposition must remain strong and independent.
Gaucho’s comments have been received with mixed reactions online. Some supporters praised him for respecting Raila’s final wishes, while others urged the ODM youth wing to remain firm in defending the late leader’s political legacy.
