A Kenyan woman identified as Jemimah has come forward with a deeply personal story about her past life as a commercial sex worker and the difficult journey that eventually led her to change her ways.
Speaking about her experience, Jemimah said she previously operated in different parts of Nairobi, including River Road and Koinange Street, where the nature of the business and payments varied.
She explained that along River Road, she would charge as little as KSh 500 per client for short sessions, while in Koinange, which is considered more upscale, she could earn up to KSh 5,000 for an overnight stay.
Despite what may appear as quick money, Jemimah described the work as challenging and often degrading.
She said some clients were kind and occasionally paid more than agreed, but many treated her poorly.
In several instances, she claimed clients would spend the entire night with her and later dismiss her in a rude manner without any respect.
She further revealed that the job exposed her to serious health risks, including infections, but she felt she had no choice at the time due to financial struggles.
According to her, survival pressures and lack of stable income pushed her to continue despite the dangers involved.
Her life, however, took a dramatic turn after a troubling encounter with a client described as a Maasai man.
Jemimah recounted that the experience left her physically hurt, and to make matters worse, the man allegedly refused to pay her after the encounter.
Following that experience, Jemimah decided to leave the trade and seek a different path. She says the journey has not been easy, but she remains determined to rebuild her life and move forward positively.
