Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju is reportedly missing, sparking fear and concern across the country after his car was discovered abandoned in Nairobi under unclear circumstances.

According to reports from his family and close associates, Tuju was last seen on Saturday afternoon, March 21. 

Efforts to reach him through his phone have since been unsuccessful, raising alarm among his relatives and supporters.

The situation took a dramatic turn on Sunday morning when police from Karen Police Station informed the family that his vehicle had been found abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen.

What made the discovery more worrying is that the car keys were reportedly left inside, suggesting that he may have disappeared suddenly or under duress.

Siaya Governor James Orengo added a political dimension to the incident, claiming that Tuju may have been abducted.

Speaking to the media, Orengo said, “Tuju ametekwa nyara, gari lake limeachwa mahali na funguo ziko ndani – tumwombee,” urging Kenyans to pray for his safety as investigations continue.

Before his disappearance, Tuju had reportedly raised concerns about his safety. He is said to have filed a police report indicating that he was being followed by a suspicious white Land Cruiser without a number plate a day earlier.

This has fueled speculation that his disappearance could be linked to targeted surveillance.

At the time he went missing, Tuju was expected to attend a scheduled interview at Ramogi TV at around 7pm, but he never showed up. 

His absence from the public appearance further deepened concerns about his whereabouts.

The former CS has also been in the spotlight due to an ongoing legal battle involving a property dispute in Karen.

The case revolves around a loan of over KSh 1 billion owed to the East African Development Bank, a matter that has drawn significant public attention in recent months.

Police have since launched investigations into the incident, treating it as a missing person case while also exploring possible criminal angles, including abduction.

As Kenyans await more updates, leaders and citizens alike have called for calm, transparency, and swift action from security agencies.
