“You Don’t Have Any Record Worth Speaking About” – Raila’s Sister, Ruth odinga, Told After Revealing Governor Bid

Political temperatures are rising in Kisumu County following a sharp online exchange between Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga and Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai.

The spat erupted after Ruth Odinga, a sister to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, declared her interest in contesting for the Kisumu gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Odinga expressed confidence in her leadership credentials, stating that she was among the most qualified individuals to steer the county forward.

“I’m one of the best suited people to run for Governor of Kisumu. My track record is clear,” she said, a statement that quickly gained traction across social media platforms and political forums in the lakeside region.

However, her remarks were swiftly challenged by Robert Alai, who issued a blunt response on February 19, 2026.

The outspoken MCA questioned her record in public office and dismissed her claim of having a strong leadership background.

“Which record is that? You don’t have any record worth speaking about,” Alai wrote, igniting mixed reactions online.

The exchange has reopened long-standing debates around political dynasties and performance-based leadership in Kisumu County, a region traditionally considered a stronghold of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Some residents defended Ruth Odinga, pointing to her years of experience in elective politics and her past roles in county and national leadership.

Others echoed Alai’s sentiments, arguing that future leadership should be determined strictly by measurable achievements and fresh ideas rather than family legacy.

Political observers note that the early clash signals what could become a fiercely contested gubernatorial race.

With 2027 still some time away, more aspirants are expected to declare their interest, potentially intensifying competition within ODM ranks.

The unfolding debate also reflects a broader national conversation about accountability, generational change, and merit-based leadership.
