"I'll Work With Ruto Whether You Like It Or Not, I Need Respect" Angry Governor Lectures ODM Senator

Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has publicly criticized Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, accusing him of frustrating development efforts by constantly opposing President William Ruto despite ODM leaders taking part in the broad-based administration.

Speaking during a public function in Vihiga County on Tuesday, Governor Ottichilo said he will continue working with President Ruto regardless of criticism from fellow leaders.

The governor maintained that cooperation with the national government is necessary if counties are to receive funding and implement key development projects.

Ottichilo said that as the elected governor, he has a responsibility to ensure that the people of Vihiga benefit from national programs. He added that respect among leaders is important, noting that personal attacks and public disagreements only slow progress.

The governor emphasized that major infrastructure projects such as roads, health facilities, and education programs depend heavily on support from the national government.

According to him, leaders who isolate themselves from the central administration risk denying their people important services and opportunities.

“For our people to get development, we must support the President and work together,” Ottichilo said, adding that politics should not come before the needs of ordinary citizens.

However, Senator Osotsi has maintained a different position. The senator has repeatedly criticized President Ruto’s administration, arguing that many promises made to Western Kenya have not yet been fulfilled.

Osotsi insists that joining a broad-based government does not mean leaders should remain silent when they believe things are going wrong.

He has urged the national government to speed up development projects in the region and ensure that commitments made to the people of Western Kenya are honored.

According to the senator, accountability and honest criticism are necessary to improve governance.

The public exchange between the two leaders has exposed growing differences among ODM politicians in Western Kenya.

Some leaders support cooperation with the national government as a strategy to secure development, while others believe that leaders must continue pushing the government to deliver on its pledges.

Political analysts say such disagreements are likely to continue as the broad-based administration evolves.

They note that balancing cooperation and oversight remains a challenge for many leaders who must meet the expectations of their voters while also maintaining working relationships with the national government.

  1. Of wrangles between the two factions in ODM the faction that calls for ten -point agendas implementation as was previously agreed on the table is what the public wait and see if UDA can be trusted in any of such a move with any other party apart from ODm.
