Speaking amid rising political tension within the Orange Democratic Movement, Ruth said differences of opinion within the family are not new and should not be interpreted as division. She explained that such issues existed even when Raila Odinga was alive and were part of broader discussions within the party and family structures.
Ruth stressed that disagreements should be handled through dialogue and internal consultation rather than public speculation. She noted that the Odinga family has always allowed open debate, especially on political strategy and party direction.
Her remarks come at a time when ODM is facing pressure to make early political decisions ahead of the 2027 General Election. Ruth warned that powerful financial interests are actively pushing the party towards premature coalition arrangements without adequate consultation.
According to her, large sums of money are circulating within political circles to influence key decisions in ODM. She cautioned party members against rushing into agreements that may not reflect the will of grassroots supporters.
She called for patience and inclusive dialogue, saying ODM must remain anchored on the interests of its supporters rather than short-term political gains. She emphasized the need for party organs to be involved fully before any major political move is made.
