Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stirred fresh political tension after alleging that Nakuru’s First Gentleman, Sam Mburu, attempted to block him from conducting political activities in the county.
Hon Gachagua claimed that Mburu cautioned him against holding public engagements in Nakuru, an accusation that raises questions about political influence, power dynamics, and internal rivalry surrounding the region’s leadership.
Despite the alleged warning, Hon Gachagua has maintained that he will continue with his planned tour, insisting that he has every right to engage with residents and political stakeholders.
He further indicated that he intends to formally report the matter and submit the alleged communication to the relevant authorities for scrutiny.
The development adds fuel to existing political undercurrents, especially given Nakuru’s strategic importance as a political and economic hub in the Rift Valley.
It also underscores the ongoing shifts within Kenya Kwanza politics, where allegiances, power blocs, and influence continue to evolve.
Political observers say the unfolding situation will shape conversations around regional authority, political freedoms, and the growing rivalry among key government figures ahead of the 2027 political season.
