Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM) founder Bishop Benson Kiengei, popularly known as Guka wa Nairobi, has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of a long-serving church member, shortly after the congregation helped build him a house.
In a heartfelt Facebook post shared on Friday, January 9, 2026, Bishop Kiengei announced the passing of Mr Njoroge, a devoted member of Jesus Compassion Ministry Church, who died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.
The emotional announcement left many congregants and online followers shaken, especially given the recent support the church had extended to him.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved brother in Christ, Mr Njoroge, was called home to be with the Lord on the 9th January 2026,” Bishop Kiengei wrote.
He described the loss as painful and difficult to comprehend, noting that the church had hoped Mr Njoroge would recover and enjoy the new home built for him.
Fondly referred to as “Mzee Wetu” by members of the JCM congregation, Mr Njoroge had faithfully worshipped at the church for three years.
Bishop Kiengei said he was deeply loved and respected for his humility, commitment to faith, and warm spirit, which endeared him to many within the church.
The preacher further revealed that the late congregant received immense support during his illness from various departments within the church.
These included the JCM Church Men Council, the welfare team, the Lord’s Store team, the medical department, and online members who consistently stood by him with prayers, visits, and material support.
“Mr Njoroge was a cherished member of our congregation and will be deeply missed by all who worshipped God together with him,” the bishop added.
He thanked all those who had walked the journey with Mr Njoroge and his family, urging them to take comfort in their shared faith.
Bishop Kiengei concluded by asking congregants to continue praying for Mr Njoroge’s family as they come to terms with the loss, noting that his legacy of faith and resilience would remain an inspiration within the JCM community.
