“We Know Who Rigged, Court Will Name Them” — Kalonzo Vows to Expose Ministers Who Betrayed The Vote

The United Opposition on Monday issued its strongest indication yet that it will move to court to challenge the outcomes of the Mbeere North and Malava by-elections, accusing senior government officials of directly interfering with the vote.

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the coalition had gathered enough grounds to petition both results, insisting the integrity of the electoral process had been compromised.

“We are going to come up with a very serious approach to this thing,” Kalonzo declared.

“We are going to petition, and we will clearly indicate which ministers participated at that level. You cannot be a public officer and engage in actions that harm citizens. Kenyans know who betrayed them.”

The remarks come after UDA candidates secured narrow victories in both constituencies, results that immediately sparked accusations of intimidation, vote manipulation, and misuse of state machinery.

Online reactions also flared, with opposition supporters demanding a full audit of the tallying process and naming alleged state actors they believe influenced the outcome.

“You cannot deploy half the Cabinet and call it an election,” one supporter posted. “This was not a fair fight.”

But government leaning voices dismissed the claims, describing the opposition as “sore losers” and insisting that the by elections were peaceful, lawful, and delivered credible winners.

“Let them go to court if they want,” a UDA supporter wrote. “They will still lose. The people spoke.”

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has not issued an official response to the accusations, though several commissioners privately signaled readiness to defend the results if the matter proceeds to court.

Opposition leaders say their petition will detail alleged involvement of specific Cabinet Secretaries, senior administrators, and campaign operatives in activities they argue undermined electoral fairness.

Kalonzo closed the briefing with a firm pledge, “We will not allow Kenyan elections to be turned into a playground for powerful individuals. The truth will come out in court.”
