Cherargei described Natembeya as a “rogue governor” who has failed to deliver meaningful projects to the people of Trans Nzoia, despite receiving allocated devolved funds.
According to the senator, Natembeya has consistently shifted blame onto the national government while neglecting his constitutional mandate to oversee local development.
“This governor has run down the entire development in Trans Nzoia County through poor planning, wanton corruption, and tribal politics. He has nothing to show the residents, yet he looks for lame excuses,” Cherargei said in a statement on social media.
The senator also condemned Natembeya and three other governors for skipping a crucial meeting convened by President William Ruto at State House Nairobi regarding devolution matters. Cherargei argued that such absenteeism undermines efforts to strengthen county governance for the benefit of citizens.
Calling for urgent action, Cherargei urged Trans Nzoia MCAs to begin impeachment procedures immediately.

“The best Christmas gift and New Year blessing would be for MCAs to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Natembeya to protect devolution and the people of Trans Nzoia. The Senate will confirm his removal in a landslide,” he stated.
The vocal senator, a close ally of President Ruto, emphasized that impeachment would not only safeguard county resources but also prevent the governor from further exploiting his position for tribal interests.
Cherargei’s call comes amid growing frustration among residents and political leaders over stalled projects and governance concerns in Trans Nzoia.
