Nairobi: New Details Emerge As Hotel Staff Who Served Jirongo Before His Death Speak Out

Fresh details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo following confirmations from staff at a Nairobi night establishment where he spent part of his final evening.

Employees at the Karen Oasis restaurant have confirmed that Jirongo was present at the venue earlier in the night, where he reportedly met political associates before leaving later.

Their accounts have become a key part of the inquiry as detectives work to establish a clear timeline of his final hours.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has launched a comprehensive probe into the fatal road crash that occurred at Karai along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Preliminary findings indicate that officers are piecing together events leading up to the accident through CCTV footage and witness statements.

Investigators have reviewed surveillance footage from a petrol station along the highway which shows Jirongo driving into the premises shortly before the crash without refuelling.

Moments later he is seen exiting the station and heading back towards Nairobi before his vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a public service bus.

Police say the impact caused the bus to stop several metres from the point of collision, while Jirongo’s vehicle was pushed a shorter distance away.

Statements have been recorded from the bus driver, petrol station attendants and other relevant witnesses.

The incident has sparked public questions over Jirongo’s movements that night and the circumstances that led him from Nairobi towards Naivasha.

Detectives have assured the public that all angles are being examined, including claims of foul play.
