Bodaboda Rider Reveals Who Was Spotted Inside Jirongo's Car At 1:30 Am In Naivasha Before He Died

Fresh details have emerged in the investigation into the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo following claims by a bodaboda rider who reported seeing a woman inside his car shortly before the fatal crash.

The revelation has added a new layer to ongoing enquiries by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, which is reconstructing Jirongo's final movements during the hours leading up to the accident at Karai in Naivasha.

Detectives are examining CCTV footage and recording statements from multiple witnesses as they seek to establish a clear sequence of events.

According to information under review, Jirongo was earlier in Nairobi, where he reportedly spent time at a social establishment in Karen before leaving later in the night.

Staff at the venue have confirmed his presence, and investigators believe this may help clarify his movements before he headed towards Naivasha.

The bodaboda rider is said to have told investigators that at around 1:30 am, Jirongo's white Mercedes stopped near a hotel in Naivasha, where a woman alighted before he continued driving.

Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the woman and caution that the account remains part of a wider verification process.

CCTV footage from a petrol station along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway shows Jirongo entering the station shortly before the crash without refuelling, then exiting and heading back towards Nairobi moments before his vehicle collided head-on with a public service bus.

The bus driver has already recorded a statement and was released on cash bail pending further investigations.

Detectives have also questioned petrol station staff, passengers from the bus and other witnesses.

The Directorate says a comprehensive file will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions once investigations are concluded as the family and the public await clarity on the circumstances surrounding Jirongo's death.
