Dennis Itumbi Joins Tree-Hugging Challenge to Support Truphena Muthoni’s Environmental Record

Nairobi, Kenya – Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, recently took part in a playful challenge to hug a tree for 72 seconds.

The activity was inspired by Truphena Muthoni, a national tree-hugging champion who holds a record for hugging a tree for 72 hours.

In a video shared on social media, Dennis is seen standing next to Truphena as she begins the countdown.

Despite finding the pace slightly slow, he enthusiastically joined the challenge, showing humor and a light-hearted spirit.

“Hehh, inakuanga slow hivyo?” he remarked while the counting started, creating a fun moment that highlighted the lighter side of public service.

The challenge, while brief, was symbolic. It aimed to draw attention to environmental conservation and celebrate Truphena Muthoni’s remarkable dedication to environmental activism.

Truphena, who recently gained national recognition, was awarded the Head of State’s Commendation (HSC) by President William Ruto for her outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship.

During the award ceremony at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto praised Truphena’s determination and persistence, stating that her actions “embody the very best of Kenya’s spirit.”

Dennis Itumbi’s participation, though humorous, served as a symbolic gesture of support for these initiatives.
The 72-second tree hug emphasized that small actions can contribute to awareness and inspire discussions on environmental sustainability.

Truphena Muthoni became a national sensation after her record-breaking tree-hugging feat went viral. Her dedication was not only a personal achievement but also a public statement on the importance of caring for nature.

Receiving the Head of State’s Commendation highlighted the government’s commitment to acknowledging citizens making meaningful contributions to society.

Dennis Itumbi’s tree-hugging moment, though short, captured attention on social media and sparked conversations about environmental responsibility. It illustrates that even brief, symbolic acts can carry a strong message.

The video and accompanying social media posts have motivated Kenyans to engage in similar environmentally friendly activities, promoting sustainability while keeping it fun and relatable.
