"Why Is No One Touching Gachagua?” ODM Firebrand Explodes as Crisis Rocks Kenya’s Political Arena

As Kenya’s political scene heats up ahead of the 2027 General Election and a wave of by-elections, opposition leaders are intensifying their criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.

Among the loudest voices is ODM’s outspoken politician, Robert Alai, who has launched a fresh attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—this time questioning why investigative agencies have not moved against him.

In a fiery post on his X account, Alai accused Gachagua of fueling ethnic tensions while relentlessly targeting President Ruto.

According to the ODM legislator, Gachagua’s recent rhetoric allegedly crosses the line into divisive politics, yet authorities appear unwilling to intervene.

Alai argued that President Ruto was justified in his earlier harsh remarks about the opposition’s behavior, claiming that Gachagua’s statements only reinforce concerns about rising political hostility.

He faulted the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for “standing by idly” as the former DP allegedly spreads messages that undermine national unity.

The lawmaker didn’t stop there. He went on to directly call out the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), insisting that the agency must take responsibility and act.

Alai questioned why Gachagua seems immune to prosecution, suggesting that the DCI’s silence may be creating the perception that the former DP is untouchable.

Alai’s remarks have stirred intense discussion online, adding yet another layer to the already tense political climate.
