President William Ruto on Wednesday held an engagement with residents of Emali in Kibwezi West during his development rally in Makueni County.
Speaking to the crowd, Ruto revealed that Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has been consistently pushing him for government development projects in his constituency.
“Mutuse amenisumbua sana, anataka stima, maji, na barabara kila siku,” Ruto said, explaining how the legislator frequently follows up on promises for his people.
The President humorously told the residents that he had “decided to report” Mutuse to them so that he could stop pressuring him.
However, the crowd immediately shouted back, “Hatutaki hiyo!”- meaning they supported Mutuse’s persistence in demanding development for his area.
Ruto, realizing the reaction, burst into laughter and jokingly said he would “report Mutuse to God” since his constituents had refused to intervene. The response sent the crowd into cheers and laughter.

The Head of State went on to praise the MP for courageously tabling an impeachment motion against DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua.
“Na si mnamjua? Ukileta maneno, maneno, maneno, anapita na wewe. Si alipita na jamaa mwingine hapo?” Ruto remarked, indirectly referencing Gachagua’s recent impeachment.
Ruto reassured locals that his government is working on long-term solutions to address the region’s water challenges.
He also hinted at upcoming projects- including dam construction, electricity expansion, and road upgrades- to ensure sustainable development and improved living standards in the area.
