What Independent Candidate Allegedly Did to Kaluma Bodyguard's Gun as he Was Being Beaten in Kasipul

Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament, Peter Kaluma, has claimed that his bodyguard's gun was stolen during the scuffle that erupted at Agoro Sare Primary School earlier in the day.

This is after the MP, who is the chief agent for Kasipul Kabondo ODM MP aspirant, Boyd Were, was roughed up and injured by a hostile crowd he claims was working for Were's rival, Philip Aroko.

He claims that the group was led by Aroko himself, who told the alleged goons to beat him up after he approached Aroko's entourage, thinking it was his candidates'.

“Philip Aroko came in personally to Agoro Sare Primary, and I went to receive him. I thought it was Boyd Were because I am his chief agent here for the ODM party, as you can see the accreditation card by IEBC," he said.

The lawmaker further claims the crowd disarmed his bodyguard and handed over his gun to Aroko, who then left with it as the goons descended on him with beatings.

“The bad things they did are, on Aroko’s instructions, they have taken my security’s gun, and it was handed over to him before he left. Aroko has the gun belonging to my security,”

After the incident, he was seen bleeding from the head, with a blood-stained shirt.

According to Kaluma, rival political actors have resorted to sparking violence and attempting to suppress voter turnout during the by-election.

This comes weeks after Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa's bodyguard too lost his weapon at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's burial service, before it was recovered in Kisumu.
