The Tanzanian government has acknowledged knowing about ongoing plans to hold fresh anti-government protests on December 9.
Internal Affairs Minister, George Simbachawene, has warned against the plans, cautioning that the government won't allow more demonstrations in the country.
He has stated that Tanzania is yet to recover from the October 29 riots and will not allow more deaths and destruction of property, both public and private, as was seen then.
The minister has asked Tanzanians, especially the youth, to do their part in protecting the country's peace and avoid being used by outsiders who envy Tanzania's calm and growth to burn their country.
He has stressed the need for Tanzanians to appreciate the peace the country has always enjoyed and avoid copying practices that have landed some of the neighbouring countries in unending suffering, including wars.
"I have had a very big meeting between Tanzania, Burundi and UNHCR, where we are thinking about returning the Burundian refugees to their homeland because they have been here for almost 40 years," he said.
"We are thinking about returning them because the refugee conditions have expired and they do not want to leave, we are considering using force to expel them. If the refugees do not want to leave yet we don't respect and honor the peace we have, we will be the biggest fools because we can see their situation."
He also called upon Tanzanians to stop considering police officers their enemies and see them as fellow members of the society tasked with guarding their safety.
