Detectives in Kajiado County have launched a detailed investigation after the body of a senior police officer was found decomposing inside his house in Namanga Town.
The officer, identified as Chief Inspector Dennis Kwena Ayoma, was attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Ololilai.
The tragic discovery was made on Friday, November 14, 2025. According to police, his body was found inside his small, one-roomed house in the Majengo area.
It remains unclear when he died or what might have led to his death.
Officers at the scene said more examinations and reports would help shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Residents reported that they had been alarmed by a strong, unusual smell coming from the officer’s house.
For several days, neighbours noticed the odour getting worse, and when it became unbearable, they decided to check what was happening.
After alerting authorities, officers arrived and broke into the house, where they discovered the decomposed body.
The scene was immediately secured, and homicide detectives were called in to begin investigations.
The body was later taken to a nearby mortuary for a post-mortem to determine the cause and time of death.
Police say they are keeping all possibilities open as they gather evidence, interview neighbours, and piece together the officer’s final movements.
Chief Inspector Ayoma was known in the community, as he worked in a critical unit within the DCI.
His sudden and unclear death has raised concern among colleagues and residents who interacted with him.
Detectives have assured the public that they are working to uncover the truth behind the incident.
They added that more details will be shared once the autopsy and investigations provide clearer answers.
