Oburu Sends Plea to ODM Leaders, Reveals Precious Thing Raila Left Behind That They Should Protect

Acting ODM leader Oburu Oginga has stated that President William Ruto may not receive automatic support fr ODM party in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

Oburu noted that it will be up on how President Ruto handles ODM under the current working arrangement, which according to Mr Oginga will determine the party's support for him.

Speaking at the memorial service for Raila Odinga at Homa Bay Town's Raila Odinga Stadium, Oburu stated that although ODM is a part of the broad-based government, this does not mean that he supports President Ruto's reelection in 2027.

In addition, the Siaya Senator cautioned that the ODM party will have no other choice to seek partnership with other coalition parties, if the President fails to serve the party's interests.

"Just because we are in the broad-based government does not imply that we have made the decision to back this government's reelection. We will talk to them when the time for elections comes. We will back them if we believe they have treated us well. However, we will search for other partners if we discover they did not provide us with satisfactory service." Oburu said.

He promised to fortify the party in order to preserve Raila Odinga's legacy and urged ODM members to be on guard in order to prevent being neutralized by rival political parties.

"My brother Raila left us the ODM, a valuable political party. I urge all party members to make sure that other political parties don't overtake ODM. Let's do everything we can to maintain ODM's strength." he said.
