"Nilirudi Mwili Ikiwa Sawa" Oburu Oginga Admits He Was at Ayurvedic Hospital In India Two Months Before Raila Odinga’s Death

Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has opened up about a personal journey he made to an Ayurvedic Hospital in India, only two months before the death of his brother, Raila Odinga.

His story has added new details to the public conversation about Raila’s final days and his connection to the Indian health facility that he often visited for traditional treatment and rest.

Oburu revealed the information during an interview with Ramogi TV. He explained that he travelled to the same Ayurvedic Hospital where Raila later stayed before his planned trip to Dubai.

According to him, the facility is famous for traditional healing methods, including body detox, eye treatments and massage therapy.

Oburu shared that the hospital had once played a major role in helping Rosemary Odinga recover during her battle with severe eye problems.

Doctors from Kenya, South Africa, Israel, China and Germany tried to treat her, but she only improved after receiving Ayurvedic care in India.

Oburu said the family always respected the place for offering effective support when many experts had failed.

Oburu explained that he had gone to the hospital because he wanted to rest, detox his body and regain his strength.

He joked that people now call him a “youth leader” because he looks more energetic after undergoing treatment.

He noted that he understood why Raila loved the facility, as it provided peace, comfort and a calm environment for recovery.

When speaking about Raila’s final moments, Oburu recalled their last conversation, which happened the night before the tragedy.

He said he received shocking news in the morning that Raila had collapsed while taking a morning walk.

Raila had already left a larger Indian hospital and was resting at the Ayurvedic centre during the final stage of his stay.

Oburu explained that Raila walked around the compound five times before he collapsed.

Efforts to save Raila’s life did not succeed, leading to deep grief across Kenya and beyond. Many Kenyans still remember that morning with sadness, and online comments show that people continue to struggle with the loss.

Some believe Raila pushed himself too hard during exercise. Others still cannot understand what made him step out for the walk.

Oburu also narrated what happened after the news reached the family. He travelled to Bondo to inform the elders according to Luo customs.

He added that Winnie Odinga witnessed everything at the hospital because she stayed close to her father until his final breath.

He then described how Kenyans crowded around Raila’s body at Kasarani Stadium, showing the strong national love for the veteran leader.

Oburu’s story has offered Kenyans a clearer look into Raila’s final days and the role the Ayurvedic Hospital played in his life.
