CCTV Shows 6 Thugs Staging Daring Robbery Moments Before Being Arrested

A dramatic CCTV video from South B, Nairobi, has shown the moment detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stopped a planned robbery just minutes before it happened.

The quick action by the officers has been praised by many residents who now feel safer after weeks of worrying about rising burglary cases in the city.

What started as a quiet evening in a residential area quickly changed into a tense police operation.

The CCTV footage opens with cars parked outside homes and a woman in a black buibui walking past calmly.

At that moment, nobody around knew that a gang of six suspects was preparing to break into a nearby home.

Among the parked vehicles was a black Nissan X-Trail. Detectives later said the vehicle was the gang’s planned getaway car.

After the woman walked away, the SUV slowly moved out of its parking space. However, before it could drive off, a fast-moving DCI car blocked it, stopping the suspects from escaping.

The video shows officers jumping out of their car with their weapons drawn. They shout instructions, ordering everyone inside the SUV to get out with their hands up.

One by one, the five men and one woman are removed from the vehicle. The suspects are forced to lie on the ground and are handcuffed immediately.

Detectives believe the gang is behind several high-end robberies in Westlands, Parklands, and Kilimani.

According to the officers, the suspected ringleader is an Indian national who is thought to have planned many of the burglary attempts.

Police also said the group had been using different cars fitted with fake number plates to hide their movements.

After the arrests, investigators revealed that the gang used three vehicles during their operations: a Toyota Prado, a Nissan X-Trail, and a Mazda Demio.

All the cars had fake plates, which made it difficult for police to track them earlier. Detectives believe the group was preparing to break into a home in South B on the night of the arrest.

The six suspects are now being held in police custody. Officers say they will be taken to court to face several charges, including attempted robbery and possession of fake registration plates.

The investigation is still ongoing to identify more members of the group and recover stolen items.

Many Nairobi residents have praised the DCI for preventing another robbery. Some people who watched the video online said the officers acted quickly and professionally.

Others said the arrests showed that organised crime will no longer be tolerated in the city.
