Independent candidate Philip Aroko has spoken to his supporters following his defeat in the Kasipul parliamentary by-election.
Aroko finished second with 8,476 votes, while ODM candidate Boyd Were won the seat with 16,819 votes.
In his message, Aroko shared deep appreciation for the people of Kasipul and for those who supported his campaign from different parts of the country.
He described the campaign period as a long and demanding journey that brought his team closer to the community.
He noted that the encouragement he received throughout the race strengthened his resolve and made the entire effort meaningful.
Aroko said he remains grateful to the voters who believed in his leadership. He explained that the work of his campaign team, known as Team OTETE, has left a strong mark across the constituency.
According to him, the team managed to interact with families, clans, and neighbourhoods in a way that built lasting relationships.
He also addressed supporters who felt discouraged by the results. Aroko reminded them that their efforts were valuable and that their participation gave his campaign great energy.
He encouraged them to remain confident and united, saying that setbacks should not weaken their determination.
He added that there will always be another opportunity to continue pushing for positive change in Kasipul.
The by-election was organised to fill the seat left vacant after the death of former MP Ong’ondo Were in April 2025. His son, Boyd Were, contested the seat on an ODM ticket and emerged victorious.
A total of ten candidates participated in the race, making it a competitive contest across the 142 polling stations in the constituency.
Voter turnout varied from one area to another, but the election proceeded smoothly.
Aroko concluded by assuring residents that he intends to remain active in community matters.
He promised to continue engaging with the people of Kasipul as they work together toward development and improved leadership.
