Murang'a Woman Rep Goes After Gachagua for Linking Her to His Narok Campaign Chaos: "Stop Whining"

Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina has strongly criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for linking her to the chaotic confrontation that interrupted his campaign in Narok Town on Monday, November 24.

In a social media post on Tuesday evening, November 25, Maina rejected the allegations as baseless and part of a familiar pattern in which Gachagua publicly targets leaders he disagrees with.

The Murang'a Woman Rep described Gachagua's claims as attempts to cast himself as the consistent victim of politically motivated hostility.

The lawmaker distanced herself entirely from the Narok confrontation and emphasised that she would not be intimidated by repeated attempts to connect her to violent episodes.

Maina urged Gachagua to concentrate on his political agenda instead of invoking her name in disputes unrelated to her role.

"If you focus on your agenda and keep people's names out of your mouth, you will enjoy your peace and space," she wrote.

The Murang’a legislator insisted she would not be compelled into silence and signaled that she intended to respond firmly to any further attempts to associate her with violence or misuse of state security structures.

Gachagua had earlier written a lengthy letter to Inspector General Douglas Kanja, alleging that the chaos he encountered was part of a coordinated operation involving state agencies.

In the two-paged letter, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader had claimed two officers attached to Betty Maina were deployed in Narok and involved in directing police actions.

The ex-DP also linked the same officers to similar incidents in Murang’a earlier this year which targeted his allies.

Gachagua questioned the influence the Murang'a Woman Rep allegedly wields over police operations and urged the IG to withdraw the officers linked to her mentioned in his letter.

The former DP was on Monday met with chaos and teargas in Narok Town while campaigning for DCP candidate Douglas Masikonde.
