Emotional: Raila Odinga's Best Friend Breaks Down Into Tears During An Interview By Citizen TV

Mzee Olang'o Nyabola, a long-time friend and political ally of Raila Odinga, gave an emotionally deep speech as the country mourned the fallen statesman.

With pain visibly written on his face, he remembered moments that shaped Raila's long and often difficult journey in Kenya's struggle for multiparty democracy.

Nyabola remembered those harrowing days when Raila was detained and tortured during the fight for political freedom.

He remembered the eyes of Raila, calm and steady on many occasions, welling up with tears similar to that of a wounded buffalo pushed to its breaking point.

To Nyabola, those tears were not a sign of weakness but a reflection of the heavy price Raila paid while standing up for the rights of millions.

He narrated how Raila’s resilience inspired many who believed that Kenya deserved a more open and just political system.

According to Nyabola, despite the suffering he faced, Raila never abandoned the dream of a freer country; instead, turning pain into determination, he encouraged others to move forward even when the journey seemed impossible.

The veteran friend described Raila as a man who deeply cared for ordinary citizens and carried their hopes on his shoulders.

He said the late leader’s sacrifices shaped the country’s political landscape, adding that he opened doors which many Kenyans are walking through today, oblivious of the battles fought on their behalf.

Nyabola's words captured the raw emotion of a man who witnessed first-hand both the public and private struggles of one of the most influential figures in Kenyan politics, as mourners gathered to reflect upon Raila's legacy.

His words reminded those in attendance of the courage, endurance, and humanity that defined Raila's life.
