DCP Party Official Tables Evidence On How Gìtibùri Polling Station Votes Were Allegedly Manipulated

Fresh tension has emerged in local politics after the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) accused election officials and government operatives of manipulating results during the recent by-elections.

Dr Peter Mbae, a senior party official, publicly alleged that vote tallies from key polling stations, including Gìtibùri, were altered in favour of a rival candidate.

His remarks have ignited anger among supporters who now demand accountability from electoral authorities.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Dr Mbae claimed that chaos broke out at the Gìtibùri polling stations—where more than 800 votes were cast—after former Cabinet Secretary Ruku reportedly stormed the centre, removed DCP agents, and influenced the tallying process to benefit a candidate identified as LEO.

He further noted that Form 35A from the station lacked the signature of the DCP agent, a detail he says raises serious doubts about the legitimacy of the final results.

Dr Mbae added that the party spent the night trying to resolve the discrepancies with the Returning Officer, but efforts failed due to what he described as intense pressure from government officials present at the tallying centre.

He warned that the party will soon announce its next steps, hinting at possible legal action or public demonstrations.

The allegations come as DCP positions itself as a rising political force, particularly in Nairobi, where it has challenged UDA’s influence in recent contests.

Party insiders argue that what happened in Gìtibùri reflects a wider issue of interference in tightly contested wards.

Supporters have since taken to social media demanding a transparent inquiry, with analysts warning that unresolved disputes could heighten political tensions as Kenya navigates a wave of by-elections ahead of the 2027 polls.

Dr Mbae insisted the party will continue defending its candidates and safeguarding the will of the electorate, turning the Gìtibùri controversy into a national talking point on electoral integrity.
