Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned opposition leaders that they cannot use violence and destruction to gain power, insisting that Kenya’s leadership can only change through democratic means.
Speaking during a meeting, Kindiki stressed that the government will not allow lawlessness.
“We cannot allow anyone to ascend to leadership by encouraging chaos and looting. Kenyans have worked hard for their properties, and we will not sit back and watch them destroyed,” Kindiki said.
He noted that Kenya has strong democratic structures that allow citizens to choose leaders peacefully through elections rather than unrest.
According to him, those attempting to provoke instability are endangering the nation’s security and future.
“Some individuals believe that using violence is a way to control politics, but that thinking is dangerous. Leadership must be earned through ideas and service, not force,” he added.
Kindiki said the country’s peace and stability must be protected for future generations. He urged Kenyans to reject leaders who encourage confrontation and to defend the unity of the nation.
“This country belongs to all of us. We cannot let extremists divide us or turn Kenya into a battlefield. Violence will never be an instrument of power,” the Deputy President warned.
He reminded politicians and citizens that elections are held every five years, meaning there is always another chance to contest leadership.
“Politics is not about hatred. It is about presenting better ideas. If you win, serve the people. If you lose, prepare for the next opportunity,” Kindiki said.
