Albert Ojwang’s Father Accuses DPP of Protecting DIG Lagat in New Affidavit

Albert Ojwang’s father, Meshack Ojwang, has filed a detailed affidavit accusing the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of failing to take action against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Eliud Lagat.

He claims that the DPP is shielding the senior police officer from prosecution, despite what he describes as strong evidence linking him to the arrest, torture, and murder of his son.

In his affidavit, Meshack explains that his son Albert was picked up under unclear circumstances and later found dead.

He says the family was left in shock after learning that no meaningful steps had been taken to hold those responsible to account.

According to him, several witnesses had recorded statements describing how Albert was arrested and handled by security officers believed to be acting under senior command.

Meshack insists that these accounts, together with other supporting documents, paint a clear picture of what happened to his son.

He argues that the evidence available should have been enough for the DPP to file charges or at least direct a serious investigation targeting all officers mentioned, including DIG Lagat.

He further claims that the delays and silence from the DPP show a lack of willingness to pursue justice.

The grieving father says he turned to the court because he felt the justice system had failed him.

He describes the loss of his son as a heavy burden that no family should endure and says the refusal to act makes the situation even more painful.

According to him, allowing senior officials to avoid accountability sends the wrong message and weakens public trust in law enforcement.
