More Trouble For Ruto As Ruth Odinga Warns ODM Members Against Joining Ruto’s “Tutam” Chant

Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has warned members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party against joining the “Tutam” political chant associated with President William Ruto’s supporters.

The slogan, which stands for “two terms,” is used by Ruto allies to promote his bid for re-election in 2027.

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station, Odinga advised ODM members to maintain the party’s distinct identity even as it works within the current broad-based government.

She said chanting pro-Ruto slogans could weaken ODM’s bargaining power in future political negotiations.

“You cannot, as a member of the ODM Party in the broad-based government, start shouting ‘Tutam’. What would be your negotiating edge post-2027 polls?” she asked.

Odinga emphasized that ODM’s involvement in the current administration is intended to promote national stability rather than dilute its independence as a major opposition force.

She urged members to focus on strengthening the party and identifying strong candidates for upcoming elections.

Odinga expressed confidence in ODM’s new leadership under Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, saying his firmness would help instill discipline and order within the party.

She added that ODM should use this period to rebuild its structures, restore grassroots trust, and prioritize popular leaders over those with financial influence.

Odinga stated that she will continue supporting government initiatives that benefit citizens but will not hesitate to criticize when necessary.

Her remarks follow growing divisions within ODM after some members publicly expressed support for Ruto’s second-term bid.
