List Of Scary Weapons Police Recovered After Nabbing Gang Members At A Hideout in Kirinyaga

Security agencies in Kirinyaga County have carried out a successful operation that led to the arrest of seven suspected gang members believed to be behind a wave of insecurity in the area.

The joint crackdown took place on September 12, 2025, in both Kirinyaga East and Mwea East sub-counties.

Acting on intelligence, officers raided a hideout in Maisha Kamili, Kutus town, where the suspects were reportedly planning further attacks.

Police say they recovered crude weapons, including pangas, knives, and metal rods, alongside tools often used to break into houses.

Confirming the incident, local police commanders stated that the arrests mark an important step in restoring calm in the county.

They added that the suspects will remain in custody as investigations continue before being presented in court.

The officers believe the gang is linked to several robberies reported in recent weeks, especially targeting homes and businesses during late hours.

“This operation demonstrates our commitment to dismantling organized criminal groups and protecting communities from lawlessness,” one senior officer noted after the raid.

The operation in Kirinyaga follows a series of coordinated crackdowns across the country.

Just a few days earlier, over 300 people were rounded up in Nairobi during an exercise aimed at curbing muggings and violent robberies in the Central Business District.

Authorities say these efforts are part of a wider campaign to restore public confidence in security systems.

Residents have welcomed the move, expressing relief that the police acted quickly.

Some locals admitted that many families had been living in fear due to constant threats from criminals who moved freely in the area.

“We hope these arrests will bring back peace and encourage others to avoid crime,” a resident from Kutus said.

The National Police Service has urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue sharing information that could help identify criminals hiding within communities.

Leaders have also emphasized the role of the public in reporting crimes through toll-free numbers introduced to improve coordination between residents and law enforcement.
