"Even if Kenyans Make You President Nothing Will Change, You Are Not Solution To Kenya's Problems" Raila Odinga Tells Gachagua

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has strongly dismissed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a viable alternative to President William Ruto, saying he offers no new solutions to Kenya’s pressing problems.

Speaking during a funeral service in Bomet on Saturday, Raila insisted that Kenya’s challenges require more than just changing leaders — they demand a complete national rethinking.

“Even if you make Rigathi Gachagua the next president, there is no big difference he will bring to this country. We need to do things afresh,” Raila declared before a packed congregation.

He argued that Gachagua’s record as Deputy President failed to inspire any confidence and showed no evidence of visionary leadership.

Raila warned Kenyans against being misled by politicians promoting individual ambitions rather than genuine change.

According to him, removing Ruto from office or replacing him with Gachagua would not fix the country’s economic struggles, rising cost of living, or corruption scandals.

The ODM leader emphasized the need for a national dialogue to discuss constitutional gaps and build consensus on how to tackle the country’s challenges.

“We know that our Constitution has some minor gaps that need to be addressed. That is why I told Kenyans that now is the right time for us to hold a national conversation,” he said.

Raila also urged the youth to remain vigilant and avoid being used to further violent protests or destructive agendas.

He cautioned that chanting slogans like "Ruto Must Go" without a clear plan would not bring meaningful solutions.

Meanwhile, Gachagua, while addressing Kenyans in the United States, dismissed Raila’s calls for dialogue as a tactic to remain politically relevant.

He described Raila as “opportunistic,” accusing him of always trying to find a place in government after every election loss.

“Raila is irrelevant in the political discourse because every election cycle, he loses and finds his way into government. He wants to be in government but doesn’t want responsibility,” Gachagua stated.
