Good News for University Students as CS Ogamba Makes This Major Announcement

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has outlined how the government's new higher education funding model will operate following President William Ruto's announcement of a major overhaul aimed at making university and college financing more equitable.

According to Ogamba, the revised model is designed to ensure that students receive financial support based on their individual level of need rather than applying a uniform approach to all learners.

The government says the changes are intended to improve access to higher education while ensuring that students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive adequate support to complete their studies.

The Cabinet Secretary explained that students will continue to undergo assessment to determine the level of financial assistance they qualify for.

The evaluation will consider various factors, including household circumstances, to help identify those who require the greatest support.

Under the new arrangement, funding will be provided through a combination of scholarships, loans, and household contributions where applicable.

The reforms come after months of public debate over the previous funding system, with students, parents, and education stakeholders calling for a more transparent and predictable framework.

The government maintains that the revised model addresses concerns raised by learners while promoting fairness in the allocation of public resources.

Education experts say the success of the new approach will depend on effective implementation, timely disbursement of funds, and continued public awareness so that students fully understand the application process and eligibility requirements.

The government has urged students and institutions to follow official communication channels for updates on the implementation of the new funding model and any additional guidelines that may be issued.
