Zack Kiarie Says UDA Will Finish Fourth in Ol Kalou, Dares Anyone to Prove Him Wrong With Sh10k Bet

Zack Kiarie has sparked fierce political debate ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election after boldly claiming that President William Ruto’s UDA party will not only lose, but will finish in fourth place on July 16, 2026.

Kiarie has even put money on his prediction.

Speaking in remarks reported by The Kenya Times on Tuesday, April 29, Kiarie said UDA has no chance of beating either Gachagua’s DCP or Jubilee, and challenged anyone willing to bet Sh10,000 against him.

“Leave alone defeating DCP, I am ready to place a Sh10k bet if UDA even manages to defeat Jubilee in Ol Kalou. UDA will be fourth,” he said confidently.

His statement has now added fresh heat to a by-election already being watched closely across Kenya. 

The Ol Kalou contest is shaping up as a major political test, bringing together Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s UDA, Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP and Jubilee, which is linked to Fred Matiang’i and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Many political observers now see the race as an early battle for control of the Mt Kenya region before the 2027 General Election.

Kindiki has already responded sharply to Gachagua, insisting he will prove his strength in the region.

“I am coming to Ol Kalou and I will prove to him who has the mountain,” Kindiki said.

However, analysts say if Jubilee and DCP field separate candidates, their votes could split, creating an opening for UDA despite Kiarie’s confidence.

UDA is expected to rely on leaders like Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Faith Gitau and Rebecca Miano, while DCP is looking to figures such as John Methu, Wanjiku Muhia and Sicily Kariuki.

For now, Kiarie says UDA will be fourth. Kindiki says he controls the mountain.

Ol Kalou voters will deliver the final answer on July 16.
